I don't know if it would work for Moto Racer or Turok, but those games already have NoCDs available. There was a utility called "un-CDcheck" that could remove certain types of CD-Checks. "CD-Checks" could be a number of things, including checking the CD for the presence of Redbook audio files. The versions of SafeDisc used in such old games won't have much in common with the more invasive modern disc-based versions of SafeDisc that install filter drivers and who knows what else and leave that junk behind even after you uninstall the game. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a direct link to the website with the information, but you can find it with Google by searching for the name of the game and NoCD (for example - Moto Racer NoCD ) It would be nice if they could release an update to require activation and somehow fix the infrastructure to store hashes on the Gamespy lobby and pair them with respective Windows along those lines.I found this info at a website that has NoCDs available for download: So basically, when he joins our servers, he joins with a new CD hash each time because of the no CD hack he has.Īnyway.does anyone know of a server-side utility which can check for spoofed CD keys and ban a player if found spoofing a key? Is there another way of solving this problem? I don't think Microsoft would act on providing any updates to this game, since Halo 2 will come out in June, and Halo 1 PC is a couple years old. He has admitted in a conversation to using it. I realize this is illegal, but I have no real way of stopping this person from using this tool.

When a player joins the server, the server checks the memory location of the banned file (loaded when the server is restarted each time) and compares the entries with the player's hash and doesn't let the player in the server if there is a matching record.īecause of this, this player is now using a no CD hack/crack.

The type of ban used is permanent, and a hash of their software key is stored in a text file on the server. One of the ex-members of the clan was kicked out at some point in time and we have since tried to ban this player from our servers. This server I run belongs to a Halo Clan. I'm looking for some sort of server-side application (it would have to be since you want it to apply for all those that join the server) that can figure out if the connection in question is using a legit software key. I play Halo PC and I have a dedicated server for Halo PC.
